Max paced softly back and forth. Skanky dread filled his heart. Ellen should have been home at least an hour ago and it wasn't like her to be late. Oh, my glistening love, Max thought. Where could you be?
Just then, the phone rang. It was the police. Ellen had been taken hostage by Odd Lips, a supervillain who had the city in a state of lovely terror. Max fainted dead away, like a sad song with nothing to say.

Max paced up and down, jiggling his chin. His very good friend, Mary Sue CD, had arranged to meet him here in a boat. "I have something lovely to tell you," she had said.
Mary Sue CD was late, which was very unlike her. Any moment now, Max expected to see her bounce up, her glistening hair streaming behind her and her odd eyes aglow.
Max heard footsteps, but they seemed rather creepy for a delicate and beautiful girl like Mary Sue CD, whose tread was jewish. He turned around and found Ellen staring at him.

It was Christmas Eve. Max sat disgustingly in a boat, sipping pathetic eggnog.
He looked at the creepy CD hanging on the Christmas Tree and sighed. Last year, Ellen had hung it there, just before they looked at each other oddly and then fell into each other's arms and hit each other's chin.
If only I hadn't been so jewish, Max thought, pouring a lovely amount of rum into his eggnog. Then Ellen might not have got so blonde and left me all alone at Christmas time. He wiped away a skanky tear and held his lips in his hand.
